Sam Goodman (19-0, 8 KOs) suffered another eyebrow split during sparring and will not take part in his scheduled fight with Naoya Inoue (28-0, 25 KOs) on January 24. The Japanese will face Ye Jun Kim (21-2-2, 13 KOs) on that day. The fight will be the main event of the boxing evening in Tokyo.
Goodman and Inoue were originally scheduled to fight in December, but the fight was postponed for a month due to the Australian's health problems. In the end, Goodman will not be able to fight for the WBA, WBO, WBC and IBF featherweight titles.
For the 32-year-old Kim, this will be the first world title fight of his career. The Korean last boxed in May, earning an early victory over Rakesh Lohchab. If Inoue wins, he could face Alan Picasso in the spring in the United States.
