Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua might finally step into the ring together in 2025. The two British heavyweights have been circling each other for years, but now the fight looks closer than ever.
Neither Fury nor Joshua currently holds any heavyweight belts. Fury lost to Oleksandr Usyk on points in December, while Joshua got knocked out by Daniel Dubois, the current IBF champion. These recent setbacks have changed the landscape of the heavyweight division.
The two came close to fighting back in 2020 when they controlled all the belts in the division. But legal issues forced Fury to fight Deontay Wilder instead, and the all-British showdown fell through.
Derek Chisora, who's fought Fury three times, thinks both fighters need a break before they face each other. He told reporters:
"I want to see it when the fighters are ready to fight because right now there is pressure from the viewers but personally right now I don't think both fighters are ready to fight each other. So for now they should just chill out, relax and enjoy their money and when they are ready they can give us a big blockbuster at the end of the summer."
Chisora also made a bold prediction about the fight's outcome:
"AJ [will win] all day long. He'll stop him, he has to."
Fury hasn't said much about his future plans since losing to Usyk. Joshua, on the other hand, has put Fury at the top of his hit list for 2025.
The heavyweight landscape has changed a lot in recent years. Oleksandr Usyk, a former cruiserweight champion, has beaten both Fury and Joshua twice. His rise has shaken up the division and added a new dimension to the Fury-Joshua rivalry.
As 2025 approaches, boxing fans will keep a close eye on these two British heavyweights. The fight they've been waiting for might finally happen, but only time will tell if it lives up to the hype.
