Gervonta Davis plans to hang up his gloves at the end of 2025. The undefeated WBA lightweight champion also revealed his dream fight opponent: Naoya Inoue.

'Tank' Davis will defend his WBA lightweight title against Lamont Roach at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn this March. The fight got rebooked after an initial postponement.

Davis has built an impressive 30-0 record with 28 knockouts. He's stopped all his notable opponents inside the distance, including Ryan Garcia, Leo Santa Cruz, Rolly Romero, and Frank Martin.

With retirement on the horizon, fans will have few chances left to see Davis in action. The 30-year-old champion recently shared his thoughts on a dream matchup in an interview.

"I like – who's the guy from Japan? Inoue? Yeah. That would be a fun fight, and it would be technical. But I think I would be too big for him. But it would be like a dream fight – I like that fight."

Naoya Inoue has made waves as a four-weight world champion. He's currently undisputed in two weight classes and holds all four world titles at super-bantamweight. Many consider him one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world.

The dream matchup faces some hurdles. Inoue fights three weight divisions below Davis, making the bout unlikely to happen soon.

Davis might have a more realistic fight in the works. A rematch with Ryan Garcia is under discussion, but one detail remains a sticking point between the two camps.
