Shakur Stevenson opened up about his famous sparring session with Gervonta Davis. The undefeated WBC lightweight champion summed it up in four words: "It was good work."

The two American champions haven't faced each other in a professional fight yet. But they did share the ring before Stevenson turned pro and before Davis fought for his first world title against Jose Pedraza.

Stevenson told Say Cheese about the unusual circumstances of their sparring session:

"First time sparring again after the Olympics, it was like 2 in the morning. It was on some 2 in the morning s**t. We went like 20 minutes straight I wanna say."

The Olympic silver medalist gave his honest take on how the sparring went:

"If I'm being honest about that sparring session between me and him, it was good work. Two smart fighters. I feel like, if it was a fight, I won. But it was good work. He made me think, I made him think. That's how I looked at it."

Stevenson made it clear he was still an amateur at the time, while Davis was gearing up for his breakout fight. "That was before I turned pro. I was an amateur at that time. That was before his world title fight with Jose Pedraza. The one that put him on," he explained.

Both fighters have big matches coming up. Stevenson will defend his WBC lightweight title against Floyd Schofield in February. Davis is set to put his WBA lightweight belt on the line against Lamont Roach on March 1.

Fans hope wins for both champs could lead to a professional fight between Stevenson and Davis. But Davis seems to have ruled that out for now.
