Zhang Zhilei (27-2-1, 22 KOs) decided to share his opinion on the sporting and marketing value of a possible fight between Tyson Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs) and Anthony Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs).
"Usyk is undoubtedly the best fighter today and an absolute world champion, although he doesn't have one belt. In the rematch with Fury he boxed much better than in the first fight and, in my opinion, won very confidently. Fury vs. Joshua? When they both had championship belts, their fight was talked and written about a lot. Today they still talk and write about it, but it is no longer important for the balance of power in the heavyweight division. It is no longer a confrontation that will choose the best heavyweight in the world, but only the best heavyweight on the British market. In fact, their duel is not that important anymore," said the Chinese heavyweight.
"It's not as big a fight as it could have been until recently, but it's still the biggest fight in boxing", Eddie Hearn, Joshua's longtime promoter, said earlier. Fury has so far remained silent on his future. Joshua is expected to return at the turn of May and June.
Recall that Zhilei's next fight will take place on February 22 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where he will fight Agit Kabayel (25-0, 17 KOs).
