Tyson Fury lost two fights in a row for the first time in his career. Oleksandr Usyk beat him again in their rematch on December 21.
Fury's troubles started in May when Usyk won their first fight and became the undisputed heavyweight champion. The rematch in December didn't go any better for Fury. Usyk won unanimously, with all three judges scoring the fight in his favor.
Duke McKenzie, who won world titles in three weight classes, praised Usyk's performance. He told YouTube:
"Four stone in weight, you've got no idea how hard that is, how much it takes out of you when you fight someone that has got that kind of weight advantage. I've only sparred men that are a stone, maybe two stone heavier than me and that drains you."
McKenzie pointed out how tough it is to fight someone much heavier. He said it takes a lot of energy and strength. The former champion also praised Usyk's stamina and dedication to boxing.
When it comes to Fury's future, McKenzie thinks it's time to hang up the gloves. He said:
"There is no need for a rematch. Tyson Fury should just retire. He's got nothing more to prove, he's been heavyweight champion of the world, can't ask for more than that, and he's got more money than he can spend."
McKenzie believes Fury has already achieved everything in boxing. He's been the heavyweight champion and has made a lot of money. The former champion also worries about the risks of Fury continuing to fight.
Many others in boxing agree with McKenzie about Fury retiring. But Fury hasn't said anything about what he plans to do next.
