Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk are getting ready for their big rematch this Saturday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The WBA, WBO, and WBC heavyweight titles are on the line as the two champions face off again.
Kevin Lerena, who's been sparring with Fury, says the "Gypsy King" looks even better than before. Lerena told reporters that Fury's gotten stronger and more explosive since their first training camp.
"He's stronger than he was in the first camp, that I can tell you. He's feeling stronger and he's feeling more explosive."
But it's not just about physical changes. Lerena says Fury's mindset is just as sharp as ever.
"Tyson then and Tyson now, no difference, he's just as hungry."
The training camp hasn't changed much because the first fight in May was so close. Fury was ahead until Usyk caught him in the ninth round. Lerena warns that Fury's a real threat if his opponent isn't at their best.
"If you're not on your A game, you're in a heap of shit."
Fury's been training hard in Malta for over three months. He's cut himself off from the outside world, not even talking to his wife Paris. But Lerena says Fury's in good spirits.
"He's in a good space. He's happy, and obviously, as you can see on his social media, he's having a good time and enjoying his training."
Fury's known for his versatile fighting style. He can box going forward or backward, and he's got the skills to move around the ring.
Lerena thinks Fury will come out on top, pointing to his track record in rematches.
"We know Tyson Fury comes back and he knows what to do in his rematches. There's proof in the pudding and the boxing records show that."
Fury's had success in rematches before. He's beaten John McDermott, Derek Chisora, and Deontay Wilder in their second fights, all by stoppage.
