Jake Paul wants to fight Canelo Alvarez. Floyd Mayweather doesn't think it's a good idea.
Paul, the YouTuber-turned-boxer, just beat Mike Tyson in a fight that got people talking. Tyson, 58, hadn't fought professionally since 2005. Paul now has 11 wins and 1 loss on his record.
But Mayweather, a boxing legend, doesn't think Paul stands a chance against Canelo. When asked about it, he kept it short and sweet.
"He'd get demolished."
Mayweather didn't stop there. He explained why he thinks Paul isn't ready for someone like Canelo.
"As long as he continues to fight MMA guys and Youtubers, he's going to continue to look good and shine, but once he fights a real fighter that can really fight, it's not going to be that good. He'd get f**ked up by Canelo."
Canelo is a big deal in boxing right now. He's the unified super-middleweight champion and has held titles in other weight classes too.
Paul has mostly fought MMA fighters who switched to boxing. His only loss came against Tommy Fury, his first fight against a professional boxer. It was a close split decision.
Most boxing fans agree with Mayweather. They think a fight between Paul and Canelo would be very one-sided in Canelo's favor.
But Paul keeps pushing for big fights. Recently, a world champion with a 95% knockout ratio offered Paul a title shot. We'll have to wait and see if he takes it.
