Zepeda said, "The best 135lb fighter is Gervonta Davis. I want to face the best so I want to see if I'm capable of beating Gervonta Davis."

Davis, the WBA lightweight champ, has beaten some big names. He's knocked out Ryan Garcia, Leo Santa Cruz, Rolly Romero, and most recently Frank Martin. His next fight with Lamont Roach got pushed back to early 2025.

Shakur Stevenson holds the WBC lightweight belt. The 27-year-old won it last November against Edwin De Los Santos and defended it in July against Artem Harutyunyan. He was set to fight Joe Cordina in October but had to pull out due to a hand injury that needed surgery.

Zepeda's last fight was a split decision win over Tevin Farmer. He got knocked down but still won. Now, he might get to fight Stevenson next.

When asked about potential fights with Davis and Stevenson, Zepeda had some thoughts. He said:

"It would be a more complicated fight with Gervonta Davis because of the different styles. With Shakur, I would attack more. With Gervonta Davis, he's good in attack and counter. He studies his opponents very well and knows when to take shots."

A fight between Davis and Stevenson would be huge for boxing fans. But for now, Zepeda looks likely to get his shot at Stevenson when the champ comes back from injury.
