Mike Tyson Fires Back at Holyfield's Trilogy Challenge: "He's Living in the Past"

George Fields Nov. 18, 2024, 7:10 p.m.

Tyson, who's 58 and hadn't fought professionally since 2005, didn't look like the fighter he used to be. Paul controlled most of the action and won by unanimous decision. Many people criticized the fight before it happened because of Tyson's age and how long it had been since he last fought.

After the match, Tyson didn't say he was retiring. He even hinted that he might fight Jake's brother, Logan, next.

But Tyson's old rival, Evander Holyfield, had other ideas. Three days after the Paul fight, Holyfield called Tyson out on social media. He wants to fight Tyson for a third time.

Holyfield and Tyson fought twice in the 1990s. Holyfield won both times - first by stopping Tyson in the 11th round to win the WBA heavyweight title, and then by disqualification in the third round when Tyson bit Holyfield's ear. Since then, they've become friends.

Holyfield was at the Paul fight and didn't need many words to sum up how Tyson looked.

"I love you brother, but the trilogy is our friendship."

Tyson responded to Holyfield's challenge with these words. It looks like he doesn't want to fight Holyfield again.
