Jake Paul beat Mike Tyson in an eight-round boxing match this weekend in Texas. The 27-year-old YouTuber-turned-fighter won by unanimous decision against the 58-year-old former undisputed heavyweight champion.
Tyson's performance left a lot to be desired. The once-feared knockout artist threw very few punches, stumbled around the ring, and took unnecessary head shots. For fans who remember Tyson in his prime, it was tough to watch.
Before the fight, Tyson tried to convince people he could still compete. He even slapped Paul in the face during their final staredown. But many boxing experts predicted this outcome.
Hall of Fame fighter Tim Bradley didn't mince words when he reviewed the fight on his YouTube channel. He summed up Tyson's performance in four words:
"Tyson didn't do anything."
Bradley went on to criticize both fighters:
"Jake Paul is a bum. I tried to tell you guys. Straight up con artist. He's a magician. He's going straight to the bank. Mike Tyson's the one who sold this fight. I told y'all, 58-years-old, all that wear and tear on his body. He's a senior citizen basically. He didn't do anything to Jake Paul. Probably landed one or two punches all night, if any. It's terrible, man."
Bradley advised Paul to fight a real boxer his own age and weight. He suggested a rematch with Tommy Fury or taking on someone in the top 15 of any sanctioning body. The former champ accused Paul of fooling the public and himself by picking on "old heads" in the game.
With this win, Paul's record moves to 11-1. Critics have long accused him of choosing opponents for financial gain rather than competitive challenge. It's not clear where he'll go next, but there's little doubt that people will keep watching.
