Jake Paul Reveals Unexpected Truth About Mike Tyson's Punching Power: "I Was Shocked"

George Fields Nov. 16, 2024, 5:10 a.m.

Paul, 27, with a record of 11-1, faced off against the 58-year-old Tyson, once the youngest heavyweight world champion. Most Valuable Promotions organized the event, which drew a massive crowd to the stadium.

In the early rounds, Tyson tried to put pressure on Paul. However, the former champ quickly felt the pace of the fight. By the third round, Paul landed left hooks at will. As the fight progressed, Paul eased up on his shots, turning the contest into more of an exhibition-style affair.

After the fight, Paul spoke about Tyson's infamous power:

"No [I didn't feel his power]. Only because the crowd got turned up, but it didn't actually hurt. But, I mean, nobody's punches have really hurt. I got buzzed a little off Tommy Fury but that's about it."

Observers noted that Tyson's power, reflexes, speed, and footwork have declined significantly. Only one or two of Tyson's shots kept Paul honest throughout the fight.

Many fans felt disappointed with the contest. They did express relief that Tyson left the ring unharmed.

Paul's boxing campaign will continue, though his next opponent remains unclear. He'll likely have options for more big money events in the future.

The undercard featured a fantastic rematch between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano, adding some excitement to the evening's proceedings.
