Tyson Fury and Daniel Dubois might face each other in the ring come 2025. The heavyweight boxing world is buzzing with talk of this potential matchup.
Dubois has become the form man in the division. He's on a roll, having won his last three fights by stoppage. In December, he beat Jarrell Miller. Then in June, he stopped Fillip Hrgovic. But his biggest win came in September when he knocked out Anthony Joshua at Wembley Stadium to claim the IBF world heavyweight title. That victory cemented Dubois as a force to be reckoned with in the heavyweight division.
The newly crowned IBF champion isn't resting on his laurels. He's set to defend his title on February 22. His recent success has earned him the nickname "Kingslayer" from none other than Lennox Lewis.
On the other side of the ring, we have Tyson Fury, known as "The Gypsy King". Fury's coming off his first career loss to Oleksandr Usyk. But he's got a chance to bounce back in their rematch this December. If Fury wins, he'll become the unified three-belt champion.
If both fighters keep winning, we could see them square off in 2025 for all the marbles. It would be an undisputed battle for all of the honours.
Lennox Lewis, the former undisputed heavyweight king, shared his thoughts on the potential matchup with Box Nation:
"Daniel Dubois is the king slayer. You got to give Daniel Dubois his flowers man, he did a great job, he worked hard, sacrificed and did a great job. Daniel's got a lot of confidence right now so when he's going in there against Fury he's probably looking to knock out Fury. He's got to catch him first, he's not an easy guy to hit so he's got to work to catch up with Fury."
While an immediate rematch with Joshua is off the table for Dubois, the boxing world is eager to see what's next for the young champion. Dubois has even weighed in on a fantasy matchup between Lewis and Fury.
As the heavyweight division continues to evolve, fans will keep their eyes on these two powerhouses. The potential Fury-Dubois clash in 2025 could be one for the history books.
