Jaron 'Boots' Ennis might face Conor Benn in a welterweight showdown. Eddie Hearn, a top boxing promoter, says the fight will happen if Ennis stays in the 147-pound division.

Ennis, the current IBF welterweight champion, has a perfect record of 32 wins with 29 knockouts. The Philadelphia native won the interim IBF title in January 2023 against Karen Chukhadzhian. He then defended it successfully against Roman Villa with a 10th-round knockout. In November 2023, Ennis got bumped up to full champion after Terence Crawford moved up in weight and lost his belt.

This weekend, Ennis will defend his title in his hometown of Philadelphia. He's set for a rematch with Karen Chukhadzhian, the fighter he beat to win the interim belt. Fans can catch the action live as Ennis looks to keep his perfect record intact.

On the other side, Conor Benn is back in the mix after a two-year break. He got pulled from a fight with Chris Eubank Jr in October 2023 because of failed drug tests. Since then, Benn has fought twice in the US while clearing his name. He's now free to box again and looking for big fights.

Benn's name has been linked most often with a grudge match against Eubank Jr. But a fight with Ennis would be a much tougher test for the British boxer.

Eddie Hearn, who promotes Benn, posted on Instagram about the potential matchup. He said:

"If Boots stays at 147 then this fight will happen."

Ennis has hinted at moving up to 154 pounds in the future. But for now, it looks like he's got plenty of options at welterweight, including a possible clash with Benn.
