Shane Mosley thinks David Benavidez will beat Canelo Alvarez if they ever fight. Mosley, who fought Canelo himself, calls Benavidez "a monster" and believes he's got what it takes to win.

Mosley lost to Canelo back in 2012 when they battled for the WBC Super-Welterweight World Title. Canelo won that fight by unanimous decision. Mosley retired after five more fights, but he's still keeping a close eye on the boxing world.

In a recent chat with Fight Hub TV, Mosley explained why he thinks Benavidez has the edge:

"Oh I definitely give the edge to David Benavidez for this fight. I'm giving the edge to David but I'm not counting Canelo out because I know that he does have speed and power, and David could get full of himself and something could happen. I'm thinking David wins. I've been a David Benavidez fan every since I saw him working at the gym a long time ago. I thought, this guy right here, he's a monster."

Mosley pointed out that Benavidez is much bigger and longer than Canelo. He thinks it'll be tough for Canelo to land his counter punches against Benavidez. Plus, Benavidez's style might force Canelo to fight at a pace he's not comfortable with, making him work every second of every round.

But Mosley isn't writing Canelo off completely. He knows Canelo's got speed and power, and that could make a difference if Benavidez gets overconfident.

Right now, this fight is just talk. Canelo hasn't shown much interest in fighting Benavidez. Benavidez has been trying to get this fight for a long time. He's even moved up to light-heavyweight while waiting, but he's still hoping to face Canelo one day.

Benavidez, who's 27, is known for his size, length, and non-stop pressure. Canelo, on the other hand, is a master of speed, power, and ring control. He's great at moving around, throwing counters, and controlling the pace of the fight.

While we wait to see if this dream match-up ever happens, both fighters have other plans. Benavidez is set to face David Morrell in a big light-heavyweight clash this January. Canelo is expected to return to the ring in May 2025, but his opponent hasn't been announced yet.

The boxing world is split on who would win if Canelo and Benavidez ever face off. But one thing's for sure – it would be a fight fans won't want to miss.
