Shakur Stevenson Boldly Claims He's Gervonta Davis' Kryptonite: "Nobody Else Can"

Teofimo Lopez thinks he's got what it takes to beat Gervonta Davis. The WBO Super-Lightweight Champion has thrown down the gauntlet, challenging Davis and saying he's the only one who can take him down.

Davis, the WBA Lightweight World Champion, is a big deal in boxing. He's 29, from Baltimore, and has an impressive record of 30 wins with 28 knockouts. Only two of his fights have gone the distance. Davis is known for his explosive punching and his unique style. He often lets his opponents win a few rounds before landing a knockout blow.

Lopez, a two-division titlist, says he's ready to fight Davis by the end of the year. He's not the only one who wants a shot at Davis, though. Lots of fighters are lining up for a chance to face him, knowing it'll be a big payday.

In an interview with FightHype, Lopez had some strong words for Davis and his team:

"How many times did they say that Tank Davis was not ready for Loma, that they had to prep him? How many times did Mayweather have to speak for Gervonta Tank Davis? I'm just speaking facts."

Lopez and Davis have a bit of history. They sparred for three rounds eleven years ago when Lopez was 15 and Davis was 18. Lopez says it's different now and accused Davis of fighting dirty back then.

"He was trying to make a couple excuses but if he's hitting me on the back of the head, I'm hitting him on the back of the head. That's how it goes. If you're gonna fight dirty, I'mma fight dirty with you."

In another interview with Fight Sports, Lopez didn't hold back:

"I guess the only one that can really beat Tank is me. I guess I gotta do it. Nobody [else] can do the job."

Lopez hasn't set a date for his next fight yet, and he's hinted he might move up in weight again. As for Davis, he's got a fight coming up in December in Washington. There's talk he might face Lamont Roach, the super-featherweight champion.

It's clear Lopez wants this fight to happen. We'll have to wait and see if Davis takes up the challenge.
