Edgar Berlanga Weighs In On Canelo-Crawford Matchup: "One Has A Clear Advantage"

Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez might fight Terence Crawford if the price is right. The Mexican superstar has changed his tune about facing the smaller man from Omaha.

Canelo didn't want to fight Crawford before. He thought he wouldn't get much credit for beating a smaller fighter. But now he's open to it if the money's good.

Crawford, who's 36, really wants to move up two weight classes to challenge Canelo for his super-middleweight titles. He's been saying this for a while now.

Canelo just beat Edgar Berlanga in a one-sided fight. He won by unanimous decision and even knocked Berlanga down. It was a routine win for the champion.

After the fight, Berlanga shared his thoughts on a potential Canelo-Crawford matchup. He told Sway in an interview:

"I truly believe that anything can happen in boxing and Terence Crawford is great, he's a great fighter. The only thing I see that I favour Canelo is his weight and that he's bigger, that's the only thing. As far as skillset wise, IQ, I feel like Crawford can match anybody and probably do way better. Crawford is a legend and like I said you can't count him out."

Berlanga thinks Canelo has the edge because he's bigger. But he also believes Crawford's skills and smarts are top-notch. He calls Crawford a legend and says you can't rule him out.

Crawford wants big fights that'll make him more money and add to his legacy. Some folks think he might quit boxing if Canelo picks someone else to fight.

Canelo's got other options too. He could have a rematch with Dmitry Bivol, who beat him in 2022. But Bivol's got a big fight coming up next month against Artur Beterbiev for all the light-heavyweight belts.

There's also David Benavidez. He's been trying to get a fight with Canelo for years.

In the end, it'll come down to how much money's on the table. That's what Canelo will look at when he decides who to fight next.
