Terence Crawford keeps pushing for a fight with Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez, the unified super-middleweight world champion. Crawford recently shared his thoughts on Canelo's latest fight against Edgar Berlanga.
Canelo won his match against Berlanga, dropping him and controlling most of the fight. Berlanga put up a good fight at times and got back up after being knocked down in the third round. Some people thought it was just another routine win for Canelo against a less skilled opponent.
Canelo's victory over Berlanga showed his usual dominance in the ring. Crawford had good things to say about both fighters when he talked to TMZ Sports.
"I think Canelo put on a great performance like he always does. Canelo was Canelo, I think Berlanga put on a tremendous show as well, he showed a lot of heart and great and determination as well and it made for a great fight."
Crawford recently fought Israil Madrimov at 154 pounds. It was his first time going the distance in eight years, which made some people wonder if his power is getting weaker as he moves up in weight.
But Crawford still wants to fight Canelo. He thinks it'll be a big deal for his career and for boxing.
"I've been wanting the fight, it's a legacy fight, it's the biggest fight in boxing today, I feel like the fight is the last of the Mohicans. I think the fight would be massive. You've got two guys who are top 3 pound-for-pound going head to head together. I know Canelo is bigger than me but I'm up for the challenge."
Crawford feels sure he'll win if they fight.
"Of course I'll beat him, there is no doubt in my mind that I wouldn't beat anyone I step in the ring with."
Right now, Canelo plans to spend time with his family before deciding what's next. He'll probably fight again on Cinco De Mayo weekend in May. Canelo hasn't said anything about fighting Crawford yet.
