Shakur Stevenson Names Two Fighters Gervonta Davis Is Allegedly Avoiding: "He's Scared"

Shakur Stevenson has pointed fingers at Gervonta Davis, saying he's dodging fights with two top boxers. Stevenson claims Davis is avoiding both him and Vasiliy Lomachenko.

The lightweight division is packed with talent right now. Stevenson, Davis, Lomachenko, and Denys Berinchyk are all at the top of their game. But fans are still waiting for some of the biggest matchups to happen.

A fight between Stevenson and Davis has been on everyone's wish list for a while. It's one of those bouts that could really shake up the sport. Davis recently knocked out Frank Martin and then started talking with Lomachenko about a fight. But those plans fell through when Lomachenko said he wasn't up for fighting in 2024.

Some folks called this a 'duck' move by Lomachenko. Others pointed out that something similar happened before, but with the roles switched.

In a chat with DAZN Boxing, Stevenson didn't hold back. When asked if he thought Davis ducked Lomachenko back in 2017 when they were both super-featherweights, Stevenson simply said:

"Yes, I do."

This isn't the first time Stevenson has called out Davis. He's said before that Davis is avoiding a fight with him.

Davis will probably deny these claims. He might point out that he tried to set up a unification bout with Lomachenko for 2024. But it's worth noting that Lomachenko is 36 now and some think he's past his best fighting days.

Lomachenko is taking a break right now, but he's made it clear he's not hanging up his gloves for good. So, there's still a chance we could see any combination of fights between Stevenson, Davis, and Lomachenko.

Meanwhile, Stevenson's got his own plans. His promoter, Eddie Hearn, has mapped out a path for him. First up is Joe Cordina on October 12. After that, William Zepeda is on the radar. And if all goes to plan, Stevenson vs Davis could be next. By then, it might just be the biggest fight in boxing.
