Terence Crawford Challenges Canelo's Logic With Fight History: "He's Making Excuses"

Terence Crawford wants to fight Canelo Alvarez. The American boxer says it's his main goal in boxing right now, even though he's already won world titles in four weight classes and been undisputed champion twice.

Crawford just won his first fight at 154 pounds, beating Israil Madrimov. At 36 years old, he's looking for ways to make his boxing legacy even bigger. But Canelo, the current super-middleweight champ, isn't keen on the idea.

Canelo said he wouldn't get credit for beating a smaller fighter like Crawford. But Crawford doesn't buy that excuse. He shared his thoughts on The Porter Way Podcast:

"To be honest that [Canelo] was my motivation fight. It's crazy and it makes me laugh with all the antics that Canelo is doing and saying in the media and whatnot about the size and he's going to get no credit and all that, but Canelo been fighting smaller guys his whole career. Canelo been making his own catch-weight for years. Canelo fought a smaller Mayweather, Canelo fought a smaller Amir khan, he fought Jermell Charlo and I'm pretty sure he didn't make as much money with all those guys accept Mayweather, even Berlanga right now, than he will with me, yet still he has all these excuses why he doesn't want to take a fight with me."

Crawford points out that Canelo has fought smaller guys before, like Floyd Mayweather and Amir Khan. He also mentions that Canelo has set his own catch-weights in the past.

A lot of people think the weight difference between Crawford and Canelo is too big. It's not clear if Crawford will fight again if he can't get the Canelo match. There's talk about a possible fight with Vergil Ortiz, but Turki Alalshikh thinks Ortiz will say no.

Crawford might only come back to the ring if it's for a fight with Canelo. For now, we'll have to wait and see if this dream match-up will ever happen.
