Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Khizhnyak commented on his victory at the OI-2024, and also answered the question about further plans.
Yesterday, August 7, Khizhnyak defeated Kazakhstan's Nurbek Oralbay in the 80 kg final, becoming the first Ukrainian Olympic champion since 2012.
- You say that your dream has come true. What is your next dream? Los Angeles-2028? A pro?
- Really, I lived only for this medal. It was my life, my goal. Probably from birth, when I started boxing with my father, we dreamed that we would get an award at the Ukrainian championship among adults. Then, of course, we dreamed of medals at the Olympic Games.
When I was asked before Paris-2024, what is my goal further, my aim, plans, professionals or amateurs - then I answered then and now: I lived only for the Olympics in Paris. I didn't consider either professionals or amateurs. Even now I will come home, I will be with my family. And then I will think how I will go on, I will plan my life. I'll answer honestly, I haven't considered what path is next for me.
