James Ali Bashir, former coach of WBA, WBO and WBC heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk, commented on the Ukrainian boxer's statement about his desire to return to the first heavyweight division after the rematch with Tyson Fury.
"He complained about having to eat too much to maintain his super featherweight status. You can't blame the man for that. He's making sure he's safe and healthy. I can say that from the time I trained him. I trained Usyk for three years, we were constantly together in Kiev, in Ukraine. And I tell you, this guy never ate a lot of food. He doesn't like to eat to maintain his super featherweight status.
So he's saying, "I'm going to beat this guy and then I'm going to go back to cruiserweight." You can't argue with a guy who's trying to watch his health. He doesn't like to eat too much to maintain his skills at heavyweight," Ali Bashir told YouTube channel Seconds Out.
