Daniel Jacobs (37-4, 30 KOs), like many others, is criticizing Saul Alvarez (61-2-2, 39 KOs) for avoiding a fight with David Benavides (29-0, 24 KOs). Jacobs faced Canelo back in the middleweight division over five years ago and lost on points. Today, both fighters compete at super middleweight, where the Mexican has collected all four belts. Benavides has long been a mandatory challenger according to the WBC.
"I would like to see this fight. But the most important thing is that the fans want it too, so Canelo should face Benavides now. Benavides is big, strong and tough, in my opinion, Alvarez is avoiding him and trying to pick other opponents so he can retire while staying on top," said Jacobs, who will test his form tomorrow night in a fight against Shane Mosley Jr.(21-4, 12 KOS).
