Chris Eubank Jr (33-3, 24 KOs) has joined the group of potential opponents for Saul Alvarez (61-2-2, 39 KOs), who is set to return to the ring in September or October. According to Mexican journalist Salvador Rodriguez, the Briton is now the closest to signing a contract to fight the Mexican.
In his last professional appearance nearly a year ago, Eubank earned an early win over Liam Smith. Edgar Berlanga and Jermall Charlo are also scheduled to fight Canelo.
Alvarez has had one fight this year, winning on points over Jaime Munguia. In a potential fight with Eubank, Canelo would be defending his four super middleweight championship belts.
