Garcia disqualified for a year, result of fight with Haney declared no-contest

Popular American boxer Ryan Garcia won't be fighting again anytime soon, even if he wanted to.

Prominent journalist Dan Rafael reported Thursday that Garcia will be suspended for at least one year as part of an agreement with the New York State Athletic Commission after he tested positive for banned substances following his April 20 fight with Devin Haney. Rafael also announces that Garcia forfeits his official contract fee with Golden Boy Promotions totaling $1.1 million and must pay a $10,000 state fine.

In addition, Garcia's dramatic majority decision victory over Haney was officially vacated and ruled a no contest.

Recall that Ryan's doping test tested positive for ostarine and possibly a metabolite of nandrolone. Doping sample "B" confirmed the presence of ostarine in the body of the boxer.
