Wilder's coach responds to criticism after defeat to Zhilei

Former world heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder's trainer Malik Scott has responded to criticism following his charge's defeat to Zhang Zhilei over what he is trying to make of the once most formidable heavyweight pound-for-pound technical boxer.

"I've been in boxing since I was 12 years old. If anyone thinks I'm stupid enough to try to turn Deontay Wilder into a fighter like Muhammad Ali .... My job is to train a fighter, make him believe in himself and help him get through the days he doesn't think he can get through.

I'm not a magician. We just had a terrible night, and it's not just the knockout. Even before the knockout, we just had one good mini-moment," Scott said.
