Zayas beat Teixeira on points

Top Middleweight contender Xander Zayas (19-0, 13 KOs) defeated Patrick Teixeira (34-5, 25 KOs) by unanimous decision of the judges in the main event of Top Rank Boxing Night in New York City. After ten rounds, the judges scored the fight 99-91 and twice 100-90.

The 21-year-old Zayas quickly imposed his terms in the ring, drove the Brazilian into his defense and methodically executed his combinations. Toward the end of the fight, the Puerto Rican accelerated in an effort to get a quick win, but Teixeira eventually held on the entire distance.

Another professional victory in New York was also won by welterweight boxer Bruce Carrington (12-0, 8 KOs). "Shu Shu" defeated Brayan De Gracia (29-4-1, 25 KOs) by technical knockout in the fourth round.
