Anthony Joshua (28-3, 25 KOs) looks like he will never meet Deontay Wilder, who was first beaten by Joseph Parker and tonight knocked out by Zhang Zhilei (27-2-1, 22 KOs). The Brit, a 2012 Olympic gold medalist and former two-time world heavyweight champion, is likely to step into the ring on Sept. 21 at London's famed Wembley Stadium.
One of the options for his return is Zhang Zhilei and the other is Daniel Dubois (21-2, 20 KOs), who on the eve of the Zhilei-Wilder fight defeated previously unbeaten Filip Hrgovic to become the mandatory challenger for the IBF belt. He also left the ring with the IBF heavyweight belt, albeit only a provisional version.
"I told you that Dubois can beat Hrgovic. He's been in big, tough fights before, and Hrgovic has only had one such fight so far. This was a chance for Daniel and he took it. He won, he challenged me to a fight, so let's make this meeting!" - Joshua stated.
"Let's make this meeting," echoed the words of his compatriot Dubois, who recovered from his loss to Usyk with two valuable scalps with wins over Jarrell Miller (TKO 10) and Hrgovic (TKO 8). - I want to be the best I can be and that's what I'm striving for. My time is coming soon!" - DDD added.
