Porier: "Without the fights, I'd be dead or in jail right now."

Dustin Porier, the UFC's top lightweight, admitted he could have gone to jail or lost his life altogether if he hadn't become a fighter.

"I found myself through fighting. My life has been shaped through MMA. Everything I have is because of fighting. My possessions, my business, my projects. Fighting has opened all the doors for me. Honestly, without fighting, I'd be dead or in jail right now. When I was 17 years old, I did some things wrong. But I learned a lot of lessons and I'm proud of that," Puryear said in an interview with ESPN MMA.

Recall, on June 1, Puryear will have a bout with UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev.
