Joshua experienced a busy fighting schedule since April 2023 and has been fighting under the guidance of his new coach, Ben Davison. Previously coached by Rob McCracken, Robert Garcia, and Derrick James, Joshua’s transition to Davison marks a strategic shift in preparation for future bouts. His next potential opponent will be decided based on the outcomes of two key matches on June 1 in Saudi Arabia: Fillip Hrgovic vs Daniel Dubois and Zhilei Zhang vs Deontay Wilder.
He specified his approach towards choosing his next competitor from the victors of the upcoming June fights in Saudi Arabia. "The one who looks the best, whoever wins," Joshua stated during an interview where he mentioned organizer Turki Alalshikh's advice on selecting his future opponent.
Regarding long-term targets post-September, Joshua expresses a strong desire to challenge Tyson Fury if he emerges victorious against Oleksandr Usyk in their May 18 title fight. "I have to keep steamrolling opponents so I get that opportunity to fight Fury and hopefully it’s in London as well."
