Bohachuk expressed his thoughts on facing Fundora after overcoming Mendoza. He noted, "Switching from Fundora to Mendoza might have been harder because Fundora is different, Fundora is special. You need to be ready for Fundora." The Ukrainian boxer highlighted the contrasts in their fighting styles and preparations. "Mendoza is a good boxer, but I have sparring [with people similar to] Mendoza every time. He is shorter, he is right-handed – it is not a big deal. Fundora is a strong boxer; he has a [good] punch; he is very strong," said Bohachuk.
Despite hinting at a potential battle with Fundora, Bohachuk suggested timing needs consideration. "I told a lot of people that Fundora would win [against Tim Tszyu]. I think a fight with Fundora is possible but not now, a little bit later," he mentioned.
Bohachuk’s victory marked an all-important notch with all judges presenting wide margins: 118-110 by the first judge and 117-111 each by the second and third judges.
Brian Mendoza, coming off crucial sparring sessions and battles especially against Tim Tszyu—who was recently defeated by Fundora—faces his career's trajectory with this challenging defeat.
After Keith Thurman withdrew due to injury less than two weeks before the scheduled fight with Tim Tszyu, Fundora stepped in and recorded a victory by split decision.
