Davis and Garcia faced off last April at the T-Mobile Arena in a match that ended with Garcia being stopped within seven rounds. The fight garnered over $100 million, marking it as the fifth highest-grossing boxing event in Nevada's history. Following Garcia's latest fight where he won against Haney by majority decision, Davis posted, "It’s best Ryan retire now. He [Garcia] is going to get hurt bad."

Garcia's recent bout with Haney saw him dropping Haney three times despite exhibiting unpredictable behavior leading up to the fight and weighing in over the 140 lbs limit by more than 3lbs, which led to financial penalties. Despite his win, which improved his record to 25-1 with 20 knockouts, Davis’s comments suggest concerns for Garcia's future in boxing.

Responding to Davis’s critique, Garcia challenged him back on platform X stating, "Everyone wanna talk about the little stupid Tank. Let’s fight nuff of that funny talk. Come see me at 144 and let’s stop the talk. If you beat Frank [Martin on June 15] let’s run it."
