Teofimo Lopez (19-1, 13 KO) said that he rejected the offer to fight with Ryan Garcia (23-1, 19 KOs). The fight for the WBO world super lightweight title was scheduled for February 10.
According to Lopez, the offer of $1.5 million guaranteed and a percentage of pay-per-view revenue were not terms that satisfied the former lightweight world champion.
In his last professional appearance, Lopez won on points against Josh Taylor. After this performance, the American announced his retirement from the sport, but after a few weeks he changed his plans.
