Silva spoke in favor of abolishing surprise doping tests in MMA

Former UFC middleweight champion Andersan Silva outlined his position regarding doping testing in mixed martial arts.

“The training that an MMA fighter does is different from the training of any other martial artist. You are constantly in an extreme situation, you have to train boxing, jiu-jitsu, wrestling and devote time to physical training.

Injuries happen to everyone. But they can be avoided if you take something as prescribed by your doctor and it doesn’t break the rules. This also affects your performance in combat. I'm all for testing during fight week. If you fail the test, consider yourself a screw-up.

It is impossible to train for combat at the highest level without taking damage. So, insisting on testing during training camp is very hypocritical,” Combate quotes the Brazilian.
