Usik: “People like Ngannou show that I cannot be written off”

Unified World Heavyweight Champion Alexander Usik admitted that he was very surprised by the solid performance of the mixed martial arts star Francis Ngannou in a duel with the WBC belt holder Tyson Fury.

Let us remind you that on October 28, the Cameroonian ex-UFC heavyweight champion lost to eminent Briton only by split decision, scoring a knockdown during the fight.

“I think Fury didn’t take Ngannou very seriously and we saw what happened. And on the contrary, Francis did an excellent job in his training camp and transferred it to the ring.

Few people gave him a chance, and neither did I. I said, “Pfft, no.” Tyson should have won by knockout. But it’s people like Francis Ngannou who change some things and show the world that I can’t be written off,” Usyk said in an interview with Boxing News.

Usik and Fury must determine the absolute world heavyweight champion on February 17 in Riyadh. The official announcement of the fight is expected on Thursday.
