Terence Crawford is no longer the undisputed welterweight world champion. Today it was announced that the IBF has stripped Terence of his belt due to his failure to mount a defense against mandatory challenger Jaron Ennis. The organization reports that on August 25 it sent Crawford a notice that he was obligated to begin negotiations for a fight with Ennis. Terence had until September 24 to respond. However, already on September 22, the representative of the American boxer sent a letter to the IBF, which stated that Errol Spence had activated the rematch clause, so Terence would fight him and not Ennis.

It is worth noting that the IBF does not support clauses in contracts for immediate rematches. Therefore, the organization did not accept Crawford’s position and took away its championship belt from him. Jaron Ennis became the new IBF welterweight world champion.
