White commented on rumors of a rematch between Makhachev and Oliveira in January

UFC CEO Dana White commented on the information that the second fight between the promotion's lightweight champion Islam Makhachev and current belt holder Charles Oliveira could take place on January 20 at UFC 297 in Toronto.

According to White, quoted by famous journalist Brett Okamoto, Oliveira is a priority candidate for the fight with Makhachev, but the fighters will not meet at UFC 297.

“A rematch between Islam Makhachev and Charles Oliveira will not headline UFC 297 in Toronto, Dana White said. At the moment, Oliveira looks like the most likely contender for the lightweight title, although White told ESPN: “Anything is possible and will depend on the willingness of both,” Okamoto wrote in X.

Let us remind you that the first fight between Makhachev and Oliveira took place in October last year and ended with the victory of the Dagestani by choke in the second round.
