The situation on the WBC heavyweight throne is confusing, but things should soon become clearer and boxing fans will have both a new champion and his mandatory challenger. Previously Badu Jack, who previously occupied this throne, received the status of “retired champion” and left the full title vacant. Jack decided to take this step because in the future he can claim the WBC belt in the bridger weight and meet with its owner Lukas Ruzanski.
As a result, Noel Gevor Mikaelyan (26-2, 11 KOs) and former world champion Ilunga Makabu (29-3, 25 KOs) will fight for the vacant WBC belt in the weight category up to 90.7 kilograms. Their fight will take place on November 4 in Miami at the Don King Boxing Night.
The best of the two in the Gevor-Makabu pair will be obliged to fight with the official challenger, who will be determined by the eliminator between Ryan Rozicki (19-1, 18 KOs) and Olanrewaju Foolish (43-9, 39 KOs). These boxers will cross the gloves four weeks later in Canada on December 2nd.
