Alvarez-Charlo will have a special WBC belt on the line

The World Boxing Council (WBC) announced that the winner of the fight between Saul Alvarez (59-2-2, 39 KOs) and Jermell Charlo (35-1-1, 19 KOs) will receive the special Puebla belt. The fight will take place on Saturday at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

The belt created by the Council will be symbolic and will refer to Mexico's Independence Day, celebrated in September. This will not be a belt that the winner can defend in the ring in the future.

The real stakes in the fight will be the WBA, WBO, IBF and WBC super middleweight championship belts. The boxers will also compete for the title of champion according to Ring magazine. The tournament itself will be shown in the USA in the Pay-Per-View paid system by the Showtime television channel.
