Frank Martin explains his refusal to fight Shakur Stevenson

Frank Martin (18-0, 12 KO) refused to fight with Shakur Stevenson (20-0, 10 KOs) and now explains the reasons for this decision. Usually in such situations it’s about money, and, according to Martin, he didn’t like the amount offered for the fight with Shakur, so he took his place Edwin De Los Santos (16-1, 14 KOs).

“I verbally agreed to the fight without knowing my fee. When I realized how much I would get, I didn’t like it, I wanted more. A million dollars is just a fucking million dollars, and there's not much left of it once you've paid taxes and coach salaries. The amount I asked for wasn't crazy considering his fee. The meeting could have taken place, but it all came down to money. It’s funny that Shakur said that I asked for an equal share,” Martin said in an interview with QueensoftheR.

“He talks nonsense, don’t listen to him. We are adults, we could easily agree, what the hell is he talking about now? He gets personal, calling the other guy a coward. Man, we’re men,” added the 28-year-old boxer from Detroit.
