“I always believed in myself, otherwise I wouldn’t have come this far,” says Jermell Charlo (35-1-1, 19 KOs), who will fight Saul Alvarez (59-2-2, 39 KOs) and his super middleweight belts on September 30th.

“I’m about to meet one of the best in the world, so I have to kind of be nervous. The timing of this fight is perfect as we are both at the peak of our careers. I want to silence all the doubters and prove that I have earned my position. I won’t have to push the weight as much as usual, and I’ve been sparring with guys who are much bigger than me for a long time. I will enter the ring with the same attitude as I did as a junior middleweight. I'm not focused on the knockout, I want to dominate each of the twelve rounds. This fight is my dream. I trained hard for fourteen weeks and paid attention not only to the physical aspects, but also to the mental ones. I'm doing everything I can to be as prepared as possible for this fight. If I win, I will remain in boxing history for a long time. It will be difficult for someone to improve my achievement,” said the absolute champion in the first middleweight.

“I’m always a little nervous before a fight, that’s normal. I am determined and I have a lot at stake. I have cleared my category and now I have another big challenge ahead of me. Regardless of the outcome of this fight, I have already earned a place in the Boxing Hall of Fame. I’ve never stopped believing in myself, I’m hungry, determined and I’m going to win,” concluded Charlo.

“To be the overall champion in two different categories would be amazing. Fights are won in the training room and by maximizing your advantages,” added Derrick James, Charlo’s trainer.
