The World Boxing Organization has decided not to deprive Jermella Charlo (35-1-1, 19 KOs) for the world super middleweight title ahead of his September 30 fight with Saul Alvarez (59-2-2, 39 KOs).
The American will lose the WBO belt shortly after the first gong, because in the next performance in the ring he will have to cross gloves with Tim Tszyu (23-0, 17 KOs), who is the interim WBO champion in the weight category up to 69 kg.
Thus, Charlo will be presented in the ring as the undisputed middleweight champion, but will not leave the ring in the same status. As soon as the fight begins, Tszyu will receive the status of a full-fledged world champion.
The fight between Charlo and Canelo will take place in the second middleweight limit. Four championship titles belonging to the Mexican will be at stake.
