The WBC confirmed that Devin Haney (30-0, 15 KOs) received champion status "on vacation" by choosing to fight the world champion in super lightweight Regis Prograis. This fight is expected to take place in late October or early November.
Meanwhile Shakur Stevenson (20-0, 10 KOs) may fight for the vacant World Boxing Council lightweight title against Vasily Lomachenko (17-3, 11 KOs) as the highest ranked boxer of the available contenders according to the WBC.
Both boxers are under contract with Top Rank. Bob Arum recently announced that Stevenson would return to the ring in mid-November for a big fight.
