Makhachev-Oliveira rematch to headline UFC 294

UFC President Dana White Announces UFC Lightweight Champion Islam Makhachev (24-1) and former title holder Charles Oliveira (34-9) will rematch in the main event of UFC 294, scheduled for October 21 in Abu Dhabi, UAE. 

The Russian and the Brazilian fought for the first time at UFC 280 in October 2022. Then Makhachev won by choke in the second round and took over the vacant championship belt. In February, he made his first defense, not without problems winning a unanimous decision against featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski.

As for Oliveira, in June he regained the position of the main contender, with a sensational knockout in the first round of Beneil Dariush.

It is worth adding that the card of the UFC 294 show was also replenished with two high-profile middleweight fights: Paulo Costa - Khamzat Chimaev and Nassurdin Imavov - Ikram Aliskerov.
