American mixed martial artist Jamal Hill decided to step down as UFC light heavyweight champion due to an injury.
“I have been waiting for a fight with Jiri Prochazka for several months to defend my title. Unfortunately, I'll have to wait a little longer because I've torn my Achilles tendon. I need surgery and time to recover. Prochaska gave up the belt when he got injured. He vacated the title to move the division forward. I will follow his example,” Hill said on his YouTube channel.
Recall that Hill won the vacant title in January of this year, defeating Glover Teixeira by unanimous decision.
