Super middleweight boxer Edgar "The Chosen One" Berlanga (21-0, 16 KOs) won by unanimous decision over Jason "El Animal" Quigley (20-3, 14 KOs) in the main event of the evening at the Madison Square Garden Theater in New York. Judging scores: 116-108, 116-108, 118-106.
Berlanga worked as the first number and sent Quigley to knockdowns in the third, fifth and twice in the twelfth rounds. Quigley also had his moments, but Berlanga ended the fight with a convincing final round.
Berlanga, who started his career with 16 consecutive first-round knockouts, has gone the full distance for the fifth consecutive time.
Also this evening in the spectacular heavyweight war Joe Cusumano (22-4, 20 KOs) won Adam "Babyface" Kownacki (20-4, 15 KOs) by TKO in the eighth round. Cusumano sent Kownacki to the floor with a powerful right hand in the first round. Then he attacked him in the second round, but it seems that he gave up too much strength in his attacks, and by the end of the round Kovnatsky had already successfully attacked the body. After that, the fight turned into an exchange of blows war. In the seventh round, after one of these exchanges, Kovnatsky was clearly shocked, but lived to see the gong. He advanced to the eighth round, but after a few missed punches, his corner threw in the towel.
It was Kovnatsky's fourth defeat in a row. and for Cusumano, who lost early to Daniel Dubois in the first round in August 2021, the biggest victory of his career.
