The head of the WBC, Mauricio Sulaiman, said in an interview with Sky Sports that he had an informal meeting with the promoter of the heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (33-0-1, 24 KOs) by Frank Warren, and for the time being, his Council will not appoint a mandatory challenger to the "King of the Gypsies".

Suleiman added that the mandatory challenger in the royal division can be determined in the final eliminator with the participation of Andy Ruiz Jr. (35-2, 22 KOs) and Deontay Wilder (43-2-1, 42 KOs) if these boxers ultimately decide to fight.

The WBC President also stressed that he still supports the idea of a fight for the absolute title between Fury and Oleksandr Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs), which could take place in December in Saudi Arabia.
