The Swede is the reigning WBC world heavyweight champion, where the upper limit is 90.7 kg. Canelo tried to negotiate a contract limit of 180 pounds or 81.6 kg. In addition, there was a clause in the contract about re-weighing on the day of the fight, meaning that the defending champion would not be able to return to his natural weight after the weigh-in ceremony.

Jack did not agree to these conditions, although he was ready to make some concessions.

“I made concessions and agreed to weigh ten pounds less,” admitted the champion of the World Boxing Council, that is, Jack was ready to go down to the limit of 86.15 kg, but, in the end, decided that this might be too harmful for him health.

In favor of Canelo's demands, we can say that he continues to own championship belts in the super middleweight, that is, up to 76 kg, despite the fact that he is not a big boxer for this category with a height of 173 cm. In July 2021, Jack stated that he would be ready to meet Canelo in the light heavyweight division, in which he himself competed at the time, that is, at 79 kg.

The only candidate to fight Canelo at the moment is the two-year inactive Jermall Charlo (32-0, 22 KOs), who somehow still sits on the WBC middleweight throne.
