Ennis-Villa on July 8 for IBF interim title

Interim IBF Heavyweight Champion Jaron Ennis (30-0, 27 KOs) will face Royman Villa (26-1, 24 KOs) July 8 in Atlantic City. Negotiations for this fight went on for several months.

25-year-old Ennis won the interim title of the International Boxing Federation in January, defeating Karen Chukhadzhyan on points. In his last appearance in the ring, Villa unexpectedly defeated Rashidi Ellis.

The winner of this bout will be the official contender for the winner of the July 29 bout between Terence Crawford and Errol Spence Jr. In the US, the boxing evening will be broadcast on Showtime.
