Negotiations are underway to conclude a contract for a fight between Saul Alvarez (59-2-2, 39 KOs) and David Benavidez (27-0, 23 KOs). The American's team sent Canelo's representatives an official offer with financial terms on this occasion.
The fight could take place on September 16 in the United States. Canelo would like to decide on his next opponent before the end of June.
A rematch with Dmitry Bivol is still a priority for Alvarez in the context of the September speech, but there is no agreement on this matter yet. Bivol would like the Mexican's super-middleweight belts to be on the line for the rematch, while Canelo insists on the same terms as in the first bout and a light heavyweight showdown.
The fight between Alvarez and Benavidez should take place for the titles of the Mexican according to the WBA, WBO, WBC and IBF in the weight category up to 76 kilograms. The American is the interim WBC champion in the same weight.
